General Job Description:
Provide Engineering oversight of geotechnical engineering, construction testing and inspections and laboratory testing for the Reno office. Work with mentor and supervise staff. Work in conjunction with the Reno Office Lead to promote quality and build GES market share by providing leadership, supervision, and oversight of engineering and construction related work performed in Northern Nevada. The Engineering Lead must be proactive about developing systems and methods of sharing personnel and resources within the company primarily by coordinating the efforts of engineers, geologists, inspectors, testers, and managers. This includes assuring that all work conforms to our quality standards, work is completed on schedule, results are communicated on time, and that equipment is properly maintained and supplied.
Duties:
- Provide oversight of geotechnical, construction, and laboratory services provided by GES Reno office supporting Northern Nevada.
- Supervise and Mentor applicable staff
- Manage geotechnical and construction testing and inspection projects as needed.
- Create balanced workload for staff
- Show leadership qualities
- Provide monthly recommendations and quarterly projections to President regarding program staffing, equipment, continuing education and in-house training needs
- Participate with marketing strategies
- Perform business development and marketing
- Promote GES publicly; support all goals of the company
- Assist with SOQ preparations
- Participate in weekly Coordination Meeting and attend overall company meetings
- Participate in Reno and Geotechnical Huddles
- Maintain excellent client relationships and satisfaction
- Review and approve staff timesheets
- Review projections and approve
- Maintain involvement with professional associations
- Motivate staff, set goals, and conduct effective 1-2-1 sessions
- Coordinate interviews & hiring of prospective staff members
- Establish consistency & communication across Northern Nevada region
- Perform lab & field work when necessary
- Audit field & lab technicians in performing tests
- Review equipment calibrations
- Update and maintain QSM in conjunction with Lab Builder
- Promote communication between project managers and staff
- Review deliverables (e.g. field & lab results, letters, reports, etc.)
- Support Lab Lead on CCRL/AMRL bi-annual accreditation
- Responsible for establishing Northern Nevada related rates (coordination with President)
- Monitors lab & field revenue factors for Northern Nevada region in conjunction with Lab and Field Supervisors
- Billing Manager/Client Liaison
- Evaluate performance of staff in Northern Nevada region
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Material Testing, and Special Inspection Services
- Nevada PE, required. At least be able to obtain within 1 year
- Thorough knowledge of business & staff development
- Proficient computer skills
- Leadership skills
