The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance department and maintaining the industrial manufacturing equipment and facilities. This person will be responsible for the growth and development of the team, but also to create and manage a strategic resource plan that supports the continued growth of the company. This position is also responsible for supporting the engineering teams, the facilities engineer, and new product development. The maintenance manager will work with external contractors as necessary to properly maintain our equipment and facilities. This position ensures proper staffing and coverage to support 24/7/365 operations. This position oversees safety initiatives for the department and will also be involved in plant-wide safety, compliance & training.
- Bachelor's or associate degree in a related technical field (engineering, technology, manufacturing) is preferred
- 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance Manager with direct reports within a manufacturing environment is required
- Experience developing strategic staffing and resourcing plans to support organizational growth is highly preferred
- Project management experience, to include creating proposals, reporting progress and managing a budget is required
- Experience planning and executing Capex projects with a record of on-time completion, on-spec, and on budget is required
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical equipment, HVAC, hydraulic, electrical, and building automation systems is required
- Experience with wet and dry material conveying equipment (augers, piping and pumps) is highly preferred
- Microsoft Office products experience at the intermediate to advanced level is required
- Strong leadership experience in working with production teams, support areas, and management is highly preferred
- High emotional intelligence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong problem-solving skills
- Must be able to legally work in the US without restriction.
Physical Work Conditions
Most of the time will be spent on the production floor and in the shop. May be standing for up to 10 hours a day. Work with and around moving machinery, fumes, and chemicals. Frequently lift over 50 pounds.
Essential Functions
- Maintain Manufacturing and Facilities Equipment:
- Manage and maintain facilities equipment- mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical
- Manage and maintain industrial manufacturing equipment
- Ensure equipment is maintained and available to support 24 hr. 7-days a week production
- Develop, implement and manage a detailed preventative maintenance program
- As needed, build relationships and partner with external contractors to assist in maintaining equipment
- Partner with and support the engineering teams, and the Facilities Engineer for projects
- Manage internal Janitorial Staff and the external contracted cleaning services
- Leadership of Maintenance Department
- Lead, coach and develop the maintenance department
- Set goals and provide a vision for the department
- Develop a strategic resource plan that supports company growth
- Develop a succession plan to maintain a consistent maintenance support team
- Hire and Interview new employees to maintain appropriate staffing levels and experience
- Develop a training program that supports cross functional and redundant support capabilities on all shifts
- Perform weekly 1 on 1’s with direct reports
- Define, collect, manage and report key metrics to track department performance
- Create annual budgets and manage accordingly
- Develop maintenance budgets, and negotiate vendor contracts
- Identify, research, prepare and present capital expenditure projects to the executive team
- Manage projects to ensure on-time, on budget and on-spec completion
- Project manage new equipment install/integration and capital expenditure projects
- Utilize cost and benefit strategies to determine effective solutions
- Collaborate with other departments and identify opportunities for operational gains, as it relates to maintenance
- Develop and manage the PM program to maximize plant uptime and equipment readiness
- Maintain organization (5S) in the teamwork areas (office, shop, parts room, and production floor)
- Schedule and manage contractors for PMs and/or major repairs as required
- Available on-call and respond to emergency maintenance needs
- Ensure teamwork and internal customer service
- Work closely with purchasing to properly manage spare parts inventory
- Support EH&S team to ensure equipment and maintenance operations support MPCA requirements for preventive maintenance and record keeping. Perform other duties as needed to support the company goals and objectives
The compensation range for this position is $80,000-$150,000. Final offers may vary based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The posted range represents the expected earning potential for this position within the current organizational budget and market conditions.
