What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Inventory Control Specialist position at Geotek LLC?
This position is responsible for daily cycle counting, finding/correcting inventory inaccuracies, closing orders, and training material handlers for manufacturing operations. Additionally, responsible for coordinating system transactions as requested by Accounting and/or Purchasing departments for all locations.
We are hiring for the following:
Friday-Monday 8am-6:30pm
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs physical inventory counts in accordance with established procedures (Utilizing Powered Industrial vehicles if/when necessary)
- Accurately enters cycle counts into MRP system.
- Reports any discrepancy trends found during cycle counting activities to Inventory Control manager & relevant department manager(s), to ensure that we have corrected the deficiency.
- Investigate the root cause for any inventory discrepancies and support continuous improvement efforts to ensure accurate inventory moving forward.
- Trains Material Handlers and others involved in inventory transactions in the correct procedures and work instructions. This may include PUPI, Pultrusion, & Filament Winding employees.
- Works collaboratively with Logistics, Purchasing, Quality and Accounting teams to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
- Closes open orders in MRP system as directed by Accounting Department.
- Makes inventory adjustments for items used or taken out by sales, lab and engineering teams.
- Ensures that Bins and locations are labeled correctly.
- Learns all the Inventory Control related functions and operations of the MRP system.
- Other duties as assigned by the Inventory Control Manager.
- Closely monitors the negative inventory and shortage reports, to ensure that all departments have the required materials for production.
- Assists with forklift training and required yearly safety training for all department employees.
Job Requirements
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adheres to written procedures.
- Must have previous inventory control and warehouse experience.
- Must have a passion for accuracy and a strong desire to find root causes of inaccuracies.
- Must have the ability and patience to lead and train employees on procedures, policies, and work instructions.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.
- Strong sense of urgency with ability to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility with scheduling and workload responsibilities.
- Must be able to speak/read/write English effectively.
- Dependable with attention to detail and excellent attendance.
- Typical schedule 8-6:30PM FRI-Monday -Must be willing to work Overtime as necessary to meet productions
- Must be able to adjust schedule occasionally, to work with alternate-shift employees (up to 30% of time).
- Certified forklift operator.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 3-5 years of distribution, warehouse and inventory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and Excel
- ERP/MRP Software experience
- RF(scanner) experience
- Forklift experience
Physical Work Conditions
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequently standing and walking, up to 60% of shift
- Able to bend and pull
- Manufacturing environment

The compensation range for this position is $19.50 - $29.00. Final offers may vary based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The posted range represents the expected earning potential for this position within the current organizational budget and market conditions.
