What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator position at Gerber Construction?

We are looking to expand our team by adding a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator with a minimum of 4 years of experience in heavy civil construction or related fields. The position is in the city of Hanksville and surrounding areas. Due to the location, Gerber will be providing lodging and a per diem for food for those who live over an hour away. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with setting grades, reading site plans and elevations, working with underground piping, and operating various heavy machinery. Experience in dewatering operations is required.
Projects may consist of working with the following type of structures spillways, dams, box culverts, bridges, suspended slabs, slabs on grade, stairs, water tanks, parking structures, caissons, channels, drainage, roadway, sidewalks, etc. Projects vary within the construction trade that can consist of dirt work, concrete, structural steel, utility piping, mechanical piping and equipment, concrete restoration, as well as others.
Position Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including track hoe, loader, and rock truck in a safe and efficient manner.
- Accurately set grades and interpret construction plans and elevations.
- Perform tasks related to underground utility installation and piping systems.
- Assist with dewatering operations, ensuring water is properly managed on-site.
- Maintain and inspect equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations on job sites.
- Travel to and from work independently.
- Be available to travel and work out of town as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
- Proficient in reading construction plans and setting grades/elevations.
- Experience with underground piping and dewatering systems.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel and stay out of town when necessary.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA and/ or other safety Certifications.
- Flexibility to do Manual Labor as well
