Position Overview

Ensure maintenance program meets efficiency and quality standards set by Hatchery Manager.

Essential Job Functions
  • Construct, maintain and test mechanical equipment, machinery and components
  • Identify Parts of machines needing new or replacement parts
  • Utilize shop mathematics to complete assignments
  • Interpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery
  • Respond to requests by production area when mechanical issues with equipment have been identified
  • Communicate with production supervisor and personnel to diagnose problems and to determine potential mechanical problems
  • Perform preventative maintenance. Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, in regards to time as well as resources
  • Always use correct PPE for individual job tasks
  • Monitor all production equipment on hatch days
  • Assist in chick processing as necessary
  • Monitor all incubators and hatchers during shift
  • Respond to all alarms in a timely manner
  • Keep hatchery management informed of inventories and needed parts
  • Take ownership of the maintenance program. Investigate problems, work with other team members, and hatchery management
  • Any other tasks assigned by management

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word word processing software; Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software; Internet software; Manufacturing software and Chick system database software.
