What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator position at GERHARDI?
Primary function of this position is to provide support to the supply chain through collecting, loading, shipping and receiving warehouse products. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating technical equipment, optimizing loading for efficient logistics and supporting other warehouse functions to ensure optimal operation of the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate forklift or other hand truck
- Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, containers, trucks, storage and production areas.
- Supports the material flow to and from the production area
- Stacking goods in the correct storage areas
- Use wireless RF scanning equipment to ensure accuracy of inventory
- Pick, wrap and stage orders to be shipped
- Checking loads are secure
- Consolidate partial pallets for incoming goods
- Stacking empty pallets
- Adhere to quality and customer service standards set forth by the company
- Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery
- Complete a forklift inspection form daily
- Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
- Dumping materials into scrap hoppers
- Maintain a clean & safe environment
- High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
- Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
- Performs other tasks as needed or assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS/EXPOSURES: Normal manufacturing and Warehouse environment; occasional exposure to non-toxic fumes
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

- 2 years’ experience operating powered forklifts
- Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required
EXPERIENCE:
- Practical work experience in Warehousing
- Practical work experience in the automotive industry
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
- Having a good sense of balance
- Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
- Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
- Ability to work in varying temperatures
