Job Summary:

The Plant and Equipment Maintenance/Operator will maintain and troubleshoot quarry plant operations and equipment, ensuring all machinery is running at optimal levels. In addition, the individual will operate heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, and haul trucks, as needed, to support daily operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on the quarry plant.
• Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical issues or failures within the plant and equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment, identify malfunctions, and take corrective action.
• Operate loaders, excavators, dozers, and haul trucks as required for plant and site operations.
• Safely load, unload, and transport materials to and from the quarry plant.
• Perform various excavation, grading, and material handling tasks as needed.
• Ensure proper handling and operation of equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
• In-person attendance is required.

Other Required Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with other tasks as directed by supervisors or plant management.
• Perform other duties and tasks as required to support plant operations.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Safely access and navigate the facility, including climbing and descending ladders.
• The position will require work outside of normal business hours.
• Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.

Skills/Abilities:

• Able to stick weld and use a cutting torch.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Must maintain professional relationships with managers and colleagues.
• Represent The Gerken Companies to customers in a professional manner, supporting the company’s goals.
• Willingness to learn, with a positive attitude, dependability, and strong teamwork.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently is essential.

Education and Experience:

• Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school is required.
• Mechanical Skills are not required but are beneficial to this position.
