What are the responsibilities and job description for the Redding Laser Cutting Operator 1 position at Gerlinger Steel?

Our Pre-Fabrication shop is in operation Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm and the typical week is scheduled for 40 hours. This position is responsible for loading materials on to the laser, reading and understanding drawings, and making adjustments as necessary. Additionally, this position also includes the quality checking and packaging processes for most of these parts.
- Reviews drawing, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
- Takes precise measurements for cutting or drilling.
- Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
- Monitors production and adjusts feeds and other settings as necessary.
- Checks output for quality.
- Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
- Troubleshoot any issue that may arise during the machining process.
- Identifies, marks, and prepares for shipping.
- Shop math and measurement skills, use calipers and tape measures with accuracy
