Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Reporting to the Dean of Student Development, the Dual Enrollment and High School Programs Administrative Assistant will provide support for the Dual Enrollment and High School Programs team, with secondary support to Counseling Services, specifically Great Expectations and the Bear Necessities Food Pantry at the Locust Grove Campus. Duties will include working directly with the Coordinator, Liaison, Advisor, Career Advisors, Lead Career Advisor, High School Liaisons, Admissions and Records, and Enrollment Services to ensure that all necessary Dual Enrollment administration is completed, and Dual Enrollment students have applied to Germanna, completed their required forms, registered in SIS, and enrolled in courses for the respective academic term or year.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Excellent customer service skills, including proficiency in office management, financial records management, reconciliation, data base management, bookkeeping, word processing, and data entry.
- Proficiency with Peoplesoft Student Information System (SIS) or similar, Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, and Google Workspace applications.
- Requires the ability to read, interpret, and communicate college policies and procedures to stakeholders and clients.
- Required problem-solving skills, including effective verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills.
- Requires ability to maintain confidentiality and sustain positive working relationships with internal and external partners and clients.
- Previous Community College Experience
- Previous experience with Peoplesoft Student Information System (SIS)
- Previous experience with admissions, student recruitment, and/or academic advising
