Germanna Community College is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Retention Coach to support the success and retention of students, with a special focus on international students, at Germanna Community College. This position is integral in providing academic guidance, addressing barriers to student success, and connecting students with institutional resources to enhance completion and retention outcomes. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality, student-centered service and ensure a seamless onboarding experience for international students through a holistic, case management approach. Collaboration with academic departments and student services is essential to effectively support prospective, new, and continuing students, including those in the international student population.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for continuing international students needing support to persist through their academic journey.
- Analyze student data and create strategies for intervention and success, using tools such as Salesforce or similar data tracking systems.
- Assist with enrollment processes, including onboarding new students and providing guidance for academic advising reports.
- Conduct outreach to students identified as at-risk based on institutional data, providing support tailored to their individual needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions and case management activities.
- Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and other campus staff to support student retention initiatives.
- Provide exceptional customer service in addressing student concerns, including enrollment, course registration, and other academic challenges.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and training sessions as required to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Support myCAA enrollment verification and similar processes as needed.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between departments to streamline the admissions process for special admissions programs.

- Experience in Enrollment Services, an Admissions Office, or a related role such as Admissions Coach/Navigator within a higher education setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, particularly in working with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management systems.
- Knowledge of academic program admissions processes, policies, and guidelines.
- Demonstrated customer service experience with the ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred).
- Experience using a Student Information System (e.g., PeopleSoft, Salesforce).
- Experience with case management, including maintaining accurate and detailed records of interactions.
- Familiarity with academic advising tools and procedures, including completing myCAA enrollment verification.
