Position Title: Part-Time Lower School Library Assistant
Germantown Academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school located on a beautiful 126-acre campus in the Fort Washington suburbs near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school serves more than 1,200 students in grades PK-12. Position Purpose: We are seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of Part-Time Lower School Library Assistant, three days/week, beginning August 2025. Under the direction of the Lower School Librarian, the Library Assistant will help students and faculty with book and resource requests, perform a variety of library and circulation desk duties, and maintain a friendly and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will have previous library experience, a willingness to stay abreast of changing technologies, and a familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and other database software. This ten-month position (Late August to mid-June) offers a highly competitive salary. The hours for this part-time position are 7:45-3:15, 3 days/week and follows the full-time academic school calendar.
Responsibilities:
•Order supplies and inventory supplies
•Process new books
•Maintain library catalog
•Maintain collection (includes repairing, shelving, weeding, updating labels, and inventory)
•Maintain patron records
•Assist students with catalog use, book location, check out
•Assist teachers with resource requests
•Check books in and out
•Create book displays
•Assist librarian in preparing library class materials
•Support and cover library classes, as needed
