Summary of Duties:
The Estimator plays an integral role in ensuring that Germfree’s offerings are priced to value and operational models are optimized to maximize profitability for the business. This position is accountable for strategic pricing implementation and capture across all business segments and product lines. Develops, evaluates, and implements pricing strategies and models based upon current business and competitive market dynamics. Partners with Operations, Sales/Marketing, Business Development, and Finance to correctly position Germfree’s portfolio of products and services. Creates/Administers pricing databases across all of Germfree’s business segments and product lines. Databases require estimates of labor, material, equipment, and other direct costs, taking into consideration changing supply chain market conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzes estimates of labor, material, equipment, and other direct costs
- Ensures the timely generation of product and proposal pricing and compliance with RFP requirements and the established review/approval process
- Prepare material estimates for proposal submittals by
- Understanding customer requirements through RFPs and other requests
- Collaborating and coordinating with proposal technical teams in developing the material estimating strategy by interfacing with Sales, Business Development, Operations, and Finance
- Selecting appropriate pricing methods (PO History, vendor quote, labor costs, etc.) for each item included in the proposal
- Support RFP risk and opportunity assessment, quantification, and analysis during the proposal process
- Present and brief material pricing, cost issues, and risks to senior and executive leadership
- Present ongoing strategic price review of performance to senior leadership
- Drive long-term strategic projects to enhance pricing results through improvements in process, tools, and best practices
- Partner with Sales and Business Development to set prices of new offerings and update prices through the product lifecycle
- Conducts research and performs competitive pricing analysis
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines
- Effective, clear, and concise written and verbal communication is critical
- Compliant with all company and applicable ISO processes and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting or other relevant education
Experience/Knowledge:
- Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience working in design/build construction and manufacturing environments
- 5 years of estimating and costing experience
- Solid understanding of recurring revenue business/commercial models (leasing, maintenance agreements, etc.)
- Possesses and applies expertise in matters of proposal preparation, including RFP analysis, bid strategy, the development of subcontract pricing templates, and appropriate review/approval processes.
- Strong PowerPoint skills and ability to communicate both written and oral to senior management
