Job Title: Logistics Assistant
Reports To: Logistics Manager
Position Summary: The Logistics Assistant is responsible for supporting the Logistics Manager by handling data entry for the daily scheduling of machines, materials, and related record-keeping. This role involves ensuring the timely and accurate flow of materials and products, as well as assisting with purchasing functions and cost reduction initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Accurately enter material data electronically to maintain updated records.
- Ensure product label accuracy and print labels electronically as needed.
- Respond to routine inquiries from in-plant and external customers.
- Perform purchasing functions for tubing and packaging materials from suppliers.
- Assist with cost reduction efforts and inventory control to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Logistics Manager, Warehouse Attendants, and cross-departmental teams.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external vendors and other Gerresheimer facilities.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety protocols, and housekeeping standards.
- Follow required safety measures, including wearing safety glasses, hearing protection, and lab coats in designated areas.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Logistics Manager.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment preferred.
- Experience in customer interaction, both in-plant and externally, is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry, reporting, and documentation.
- Experience with SAP or MRP systems for material and production planning is highly desirable.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of electronic systems.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Strong team player with a cooperative attitude.
