Job Description
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for performing duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager for the successful operation of the Maintenance Department. It is essential that as a Mechanical Technician, you will present yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while performing your defined responsibilities. You are responsible for always maintaining our high standards of Customer Service. Other duties may be assigned as required, depending upon the available time, business volume and other criteria as determined by your appropriate supervisor and/or Gerrity’s Supermarket. Full compliance with current and future policies will be required to ensure that your work contribution is in the best interest of Gerrity’s Supermarkets. Position will require travel.
Mechanical Technician Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Maintenance Department with mechanical tasks
- Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as performing repairs throughout the stores
- Developing and implementing mechanical maintenance plans to prevent costly equipment breakdowns
- Installing and performing diagnostic tests on mechanical systems
- Documenting processes and maintaining mechanical service records
- Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies
- Assist in training co-workers on the safe and efficient use of mechanical machinery and equipment
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment and adhering to industry regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Internet capabilities
- Comply fully with and enforce all safety policies and procedures
- Attendance at your job is essential to the overall function of your department
- Always operate equipment with all safeguards in place and in good operating condition observe the safe method of performing all duties
- Immediately advise Management of any maintenance or equipment problems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Mechanical Technician Requirements:
- A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience as a mechanical technician in a related industry
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, software, installations maintenance, and repairs
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Great organizational and time management abilities
- Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs outside of normal business hours
- Able to lift a minimum of 50-100 lbs
- Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency in order to read and understand
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to travel
