Gertens Family of Businesses is seeking a skilled Lead Diesel Mechanic to manage our shop and oversee other mechanics at our Inver Grove Heights Location. The lead mechanic will maintain and repair fleet vehicles and machinery and will also be responsible for ensuring the functionality of the machines, engines, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Other Responsibilities As a Lead Mechanic Include
- Maintain, repair and track Gertens operational and transportation equipment year around.
- Perform preventative maintenance, Safety and Annual DOT maintenance inspections.
- Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles.
- Must be able to work with various machines and tools and be able to direct staff for minor maintenance.
- Assist and perform mobile emergency services due to a sudden breakdown.
- Fill out work orders and input them into the computer system. Phone networking to order necessary parts and supplies as needed.
- Always follow safety procedures to avoid accidental injuries and damage to trucks and equipment.
- Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
- Rebuild, replace, or repair vehicle parts such as engines, brakes, transmission lines, electrical assemblies, and accessories.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Diesel engine repair: 1 year preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year preferred.
- Must have valid drivers license-Class A preferred but not required.
- Ability to walk/stand on concrete for prolonged periods of times.
- Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, manual dexterity.
- Vision abilities required include close, distance and depth perception.
- Heavy lifting of 50 lbs.
- Frequent exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel
