SPECIAL EDUCATION COORDINATOR
Objective
Maintain and uphold excellence in instructional delivery at the K-12 level while ensuring high-quality, differentiated services for Special Education programs.?
School-Level Major Roles and Responsibilities
- Participate in IEP meetings as necessary.??
- Conduct weekly reviews of one Individualized Education Program (IEP) and one Individualized Learning Plan (ILP).?
- Support leadership development by modeling key components of data meetings focused on RTI intervention fidelity and scholar progress, ensuring effective implementation of research-based interventions.?
- Align school-wide RTI goals across the network by developing structured support systems that ensure fidelity in implementing research-based interventions through data-driven decision-making.?
- Assist school leaders in tracking and monitoring scorecard requirements to achieve a score of 4 or higher.?
- Plan and facilitate monthly professional development sessions for school leaders to enhance Special Education teachers’ ability to implement best instructional practices.?
- Conduct observations of service delivery, including instructional modality, differentiation, scaffolding, and collaboration among general education teachers for academic and behavioral instruction.?
- Support instructional leaders in driving scholar-centered instruction through data analysis, teacher collaboration, and lesson planning to address scholar learning gaps.?
Assisting the Director of Scholar Support
- Develop a shared understanding of high-quality, differentiated instruction and identify necessary network-level support.?
- Guide school leaders in defining actionable steps to enhance Special Education teachers’ skills and effectiveness.?
- Assess the progress of Special Education teachers and recommend improvements for academic and related services.?
- Oversee the creation and implementation of professional learning modules to enhance classroom instruction and the quality of individualized education programs.?
- Collaborate with principals, instructional leadership teams, and school coaches to ensure consistent administration of programs and services mandated by IDEA, state, and LEA requirements.?
Network-Level Major Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop strategic data meetings for instruction and RTI to support Special Education teachers in alignment with network and school academic goals.?
- Assist in creating network-wide guidelines and best practices for response to intervention across all tiers.?
- Support the Managing Director of Scholar Support (MDSP) in tracking, measuring, and monitoring RTI effectiveness across the network.?
- Develop a year-long professional development calendar, including turnkey materials and resources for differentiating and scaffolding curricula for Special Education teachers.?
- Ensure compliance with Special Education services while supporting the MDSP in meeting or exceeding proficiency on state and LEA scorecards, including December 1st and monthly compliance checks.?
- Assist schools in ensuring timely delivery of related services (e.g., initial evaluations, homebound instruction, counseling).?
- Support the MDSP in aligning network goals with scholar support department objectives to achieve targeted outcomes.?
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Education
- Valid Tennessee Teacher Licensure?
- Valid Tennessee Administrator Licensure?
- Experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation?
- Expertise in instructional coaching?
