Controls Engineer
We are looking for an experienced controls engineer capable of designing, building, and installing turnkey control systems. We are looking for an engineer who is self-reliant, willing to learn and adapt to each new project, and has well-developed problem-solving skills. Our client specializes in PLC Control Systems, Industrial Robotics, Motor Controls, Vision Systems, and Custom Manufacturing Equipment. You will be working with various industries: automotive, chemical, manufacturing, food & beverage, pulp & paper, and wood products
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design Electrical Control Panels for Machines and Control Systems.
- Design and Build PLC programs.
- Design and Build HMI Programs.
- Design Systems using current safety procedures and practices.
- Startup and troubleshoot VFD and motor controls.
- Startup and troubleshoot Servo Motor Applications.
- Understand and troubleshoot Industrial Networking.
- Manage individual projects, including budget control, customer communication, scheduling, installation, and startup.
- Program Industrial Robots (I.e. Fanuc) (not required but desired)
- Understand and troubleshoot PLC controllers, industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP and Profinet, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems
- Travel is required but not excessive (25%)
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- PLC Programming experience. Rockwell Automation and GE/Emerson products preferred.
- Experience with Electrical Theory, Robotics, Controls Components, and Automated Equipment
- Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and designing HMI and control network components
- Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying Motor Controls including Motor Starters, Variable Frequency Drives, DC drives, and Standard Electrical Components
- Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
- Experience interpreting, modifying, and developing mechanical and electrical drawings
