Key Responsibilities
- Create and execute a comprehensive curriculum and lesson plans tailored for both Novice and Varsity Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum teams.
- Deliver engaging 30-40-minute lectures focusing on essential debate skills followed by targeted drills.
- Design and facilitate drills aimed at enhancing specific debate competencies, including research techniques, argument formulation, and rebuttal strategies.
- Assign homework and coordinate additional practice sessions to prepare students for competitions.
- Lead in-depth discussions on topic analysis, guiding students in developing robust affirm and neg contentions.
- Collaborate with fellow LD coaches to maintain consistency and quality in the curriculum across all classes.
- Mentor students to cultivate expert-level debate strategies, empowering them to compete at premier competitive events.
- Strong grasp of advanced debate methodologies and tactics.
- Proficiency in delivering engaging lectures and facilitating interactive drills.
- Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
- Exceptional mentoring and guidance skills to support student growth.
- Capacity to deliver instruction both in-person and remotely.
- A Bachelor's degree (or in progress toward completion) in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching or competing in Lincoln Douglas (LD) and Public Forum (PF) debates, with a track record of success at esteemed national circuit levels.
- A commitment to fostering student excellence in debate and critical thinking.
- Flexibility to teach during evening hours once a week and a commitment to a 15-week program (estimated 30-35 hours each semester).
