Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to serve as the Assistant Director for the Alternative Route to Certification (ARC) & Undergraduate Education Programs. In this remote role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the Director of Undergraduate Education Programs by overseeing the daily operations of the ARC program. Your responsibilities will include collaboration in course curriculum design, faculty recruitment, and upholding accreditation standards. Additionally, you will advise students within their respective programs, ensuring compliance with educational regulations and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant Director, you will:

  • Manage the ARC program's operations, including student recruitment, application processing, and student advisement throughout their academic journey.
  • Coordinate the ARC course schedule and work in conjunction with the Director to evaluate and hire faculty.
  • Modify and enhance the curriculum to align with current educational benchmarks and program mandates.
  • Facilitate the accreditation process and monitor essential data to ensure compliance with accrediting agencies.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory organizations as required.
  • Offer academic and professional guidance to students in undergraduate programs, promoting their success.
  • Participate in meetings with state education departments and committees that focus on early childhood and K-12 education.
  • Undertake additional tasks to support the overarching goals of the educational programs.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Connecticut teacher certification in early childhood or special education is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with a diverse array of faculty, staff, and students from various cultural, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Strong proficiency in written and oral communication, along with competency in common software applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience in early childhood education, special education, or human development at the college level.
  • Familiarity with Professional Standards and Competencies for Early Childhood Educators.
