Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and engaging Caribbean Course Instructor to join our team in a remote capacity. This prestigious position offers the opportunity to educate foreign affairs professionals about the intricate cultural, political, and economic dynamics that define the Caribbean region. The curriculum is meticulously designed to empower participants with the necessary competencies to effectively navigate the complexities of working in or with the Caribbean, encompassing nations such as Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Belize, Guyana, Suriname, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and The Bahamas.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the delivery of the course, accommodating both remote and in-person formats as required by participants.
• Conduct engaging lectures and facilitate discussions that enhance understanding and provoke thoughtful dialogue.
• Utilize diverse teaching methodologies, including discussions, group exercises, and independent study, to optimize the online learning experience.
• Identify and coordinate with prominent guest speakers from governmental, academic, diplomatic, and business spheres to enrich the learning environment.
• Ensure course materials are consistently maintained, updated, and aligned with organizational standards prior to delivery.
• Collaborate effectively with the Area Studies Chair and support staff for course planning and execution to ensure technical aspects are seamlessly managed.
• Coordinate course evaluations, encouraging participant feedback to foster ongoing course enhancements.
  
  

Required Skills

• Extensive knowledge of the Caribbean region, demonstrated through teaching, publications, or professional recognition.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities, with a focus on delivering clear and concise instructional materials.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Advanced familiarity with online learning platforms, especially Zoom.
• Strong ability to engage adult learners through interactive and innovative teaching strategies.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage course logistics effectively.
  
  

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in a relevant field is required; a PhD is highly regarded.
• Proven experience in instructional design, professional training, or academic teaching, particularly with a focus on interactive methodologies for adult learners.
