Job Overview

We are in search of a committed and enthusiastic ESOL Instructor dedicated to empowering a diverse group of adult learners as they enhance their English language proficiency. This role involves delivering a blend of remote and in-person classes, generally comprising three to four sessions weekly, while fostering an interactive and stimulating educational environment. The ideal candidate will exemplify adaptability, creativity, and a strong commitment to student achievement, promoting both academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

• Curriculum Development: Design and periodically update the ESOL curriculum to ensure it meets educational standards and addresses the specific needs of learners.
• Instruction: Craft and execute engaging lesson plans tailored to the varying language proficiency levels of students, employing diverse instructional strategies.
• Student Assessment: Regularly assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and adjusting teaching methods to tackle learning obstacles.
• Data-Driven Improvement: Evaluate student performance data to pinpoint growth areas and implement effective strategies to enhance the ESOL program.
• Student Support: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement, participation, and cultural exchange.
• Student Placement and Feedback: Administer assessments to gauge language proficiency and provide guidance throughout the learning journey.
• Record Keeping: Maintain precise attendance and necessary documentation to ensure compliance with program standards.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, program leaders, and community services to address challenges students may encounter, including housing and transportation.
• Goal Setting: Assist students in establishing personalized learning objectives and monitor their progress, adapting strategies as required to facilitate their success.
• Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices in adult education, continuously refining teaching approaches to cater to the diverse needs of students.
  
  

Required Skills

• Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related discipline.
• Experience: Demonstrated capability to connect with and teach students from various backgrounds, particularly in teaching English to non-native speakers.
• Language Proficiency: Command of the English language; bilingual candidates are welcome to apply.
• Cultural Competence: Experience working with adult learners from a variety of cultural, linguistic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Classroom Management: Proficient classroom management skills that foster a productive learning environment.
