Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate a secure, positive, and inclusive learning atmosphere for interns throughout their field experience.
- Deliver experiential environmental education lessons tailored to a diverse group of high school students.
- Facilitate ecological research and conservation initiatives, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
- Mentor interns in the planning and execution of their independent research projects.
- Organize and supervise outdoor activities, including wildlife observation and conservation service projects.
- Address logistical obstacles, respond to emergencies, and uphold safety as a top priority.
- Maintain effective and open communication with interns, colleagues, and program collaborators.
- Engage in mandatory training, staff meetings, and program debriefings throughout the summer season.
- Ensure the upkeep and appropriate handling of program equipment, vehicles, and materials.
- Keep detailed program records and promptly complete required documentation.
- Exceptional teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
- Proven mentorship and leadership skills to inspire and guide young participants.
- Experience in fostering inclusive and culturally responsive environments for diverse youth populations.
- Strong organizational and logistical management proficiencies.

- Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental education, natural resource management, or a closely related field; OR equivalent professional experience.
- Current certifications in Wilderness First Responder and CPR are mandatory.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching science-related content to middle or high school students in both formal and informal settings.
- Demonstrated outdoor leadership experience with youth in remote settings.
- Field research experience in wildlife, botany, geology, or hydrology is essential.
- Robust camping knowledge and the capability to instruct outdoor living skills to participants.
- Physically fit, capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, hiking up to 5 miles daily, and performing tasks across varying weather conditions.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
