Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate effective communication by providing real-time American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students, educators, and staff during virtual classes, discussions, and activities.
- Collaborate closely with educators and support personnel to foster an inclusive and accessible classroom environment, responsive to the needs of students with hearing impairments.
- Assist in translating written educational materials, resources, and assignments into ASL, ensuring that students can engage with all content in their preferred communication mode.
- Maintain confidentiality by accurately documenting all interpreted sessions and communications, while adhering to pertinent privacy regulations.
- Promote an inclusive atmosphere that nurtures student engagement, learning, and personal development.
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with the ability to interpret effectively in both educational and social contexts.
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings or with virtual interpreting services is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of additional communication methods utilized by students with hearing impairments is an advantage.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality and maintain professional standards.
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher.
- Colorado Teaching Certification (CDE) for teaching or interpreting services.
