Job Overview

We are looking for a committed and adaptable Substitute Teacher to deliver high school-level instruction to students aged 18 and older during the temporary absence of the primary educator. This position may require remote teaching from various learning centers across California, specifically within Nevada County, Riverside County, Monterey County, Kern County, Los Angeles County (Antelope Valley), Merced County, Ventura County, and Butte County. The ideal candidate will have expertise in providing culturally responsive education employing language acquisition strategies, both synchronously and asynchronously.

Key Responsibilities

As a Substitute Teacher, you will engage in the following duties:

  • Lesson Development: Create and implement captivating lessons across diverse subjects for a varied student demographic in a self-contained classroom setting.
  • Instructional Delivery: Conduct online courses using the Canvas learning management system, ensuring high-quality instruction to students from various cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and economic backgrounds.
  • Student Assessment: Monitor, assess, and gauge student performance in both in-class and online environments. Assign and evaluate coursework, projects, tests, and assignments.
  • Record Maintenance: Keep precise student records, including grades and other necessary documentation, in a timely fashion.
  • Student Support: Collaborate with the school counselor to provide students with insights into career paths, further education, and job opportunities.
  • Classroom Management: Cultivate a positive classroom atmosphere by encouraging students to adhere to behavioral standards.
  • Innovative Learning: Participate in the creation and implementation of engaging activities that enhance the learning experience.
  • Cultural Competence: Deliver instruction that is culturally relevant, promoting inclusivity and respect for diverse educational needs.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A valid 30-Day Substitute Permit or a multiple-subject/single-subject teaching credential is necessary.
