Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development & Implementation: Design and implement educational activities that align with Developmentally Appropriate Practices and Vermont Early Learning Standards, promoting growth across all developmental domains.
- Activity Planning: Create and lead activities that stimulate cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, ensuring active engagement and learning among children.
- Family Communication: Foster strong relationships with families through regular communication about their child's progress, contributing to a collaborative environment.
- Compliance: Uphold all center policies, state regulations, and safety standards diligently.
- Classroom Environment: Organize and maintain a clean, inspiring, and safe classroom that meets state regulations and ITERS/ECERS guidelines.
- Documentation & Assessment: Conduct and document observations of children, maintaining accurate assessments and adhering to reporting timeframes.
- Professional Development: Commit to ongoing professional enhancement by following a personal development plan aimed at improving skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
- In-depth understanding of child development principles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, children, and families.
- Leadership and organizational skills, coupled with a proactive approach to classroom management.
- Warm, professional, and approachable demeanor.
- Minimum age of 20 years.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- At least 12 months of experience working with children aged 3 or younger.
- Completion of one of the following:
- Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level 3 Certificate
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Services
- Certification from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program
- Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont
- 21 college credits focused on early childhood or school-age education.
- Certifications: Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification, Mandated Reporter Training, Vermont Orientation Training, and successful background check and fingerprint clearance.
