Key Responsibilities
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in technology, including hardware and software, and embrace learning about assistive technology designed for individuals with visual impairments.
- Partner with the Assistive Technology Manager to facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives through workshops, training sessions, and professional events.
- Design and execute engaging educational programs tailored for both adults and children in various environments, including residential and remote settings.
- Deliver exceptional classroom instruction within the technology center, providing individualized and group support to students.
- Investigate and analyze emerging technologies, products, and applications to continually enhance your expertise and instructional methods.
- Develop and implement timely technology services that cater to the diverse needs of all students and program participants.
- Cultivate strong professional relationships with school districts, community organizations, and funding sources to enhance collaborative efforts.
- Offer consultative technology services to public and private educational institutions, assisting teachers and staff with lesson planning, assessments, and reporting.
- Train parents and caregivers on the effective use of assistive technology as needed.
- Provide support to internal staff regarding assistive technology requirements, including assessments and training.
- Ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adapt to evolving needs and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Excellent communication abilities with a strong aptitude for collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in current technology, including computers, mobile devices, software applications, and instructional training programs.
- Familiar with both PC and Mac systems, including hardware and software installation.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google applications like Docs and Sheets.
- Experience with mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms is a plus, along with a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Physical capability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodations provided for individuals with disabilities.
- An associate’s degree in teaching, vocational training, technology, education, or related fields is required. Relevant certifications in software or hardware applications may substitute for an advanced degree.
- A minimum of one year of teaching or training experience is preferred.
- A proactive approach toward learning new technologies is essential.
