Key Responsibilities
- Remain current with technological advancements in hardware and software, with a keen interest in assistive technology tailored for individuals with visual impairments.
- Collaborate with the Assistive Technology Manager to create and present workshops, conferences, and informative sessions for professionals in the field.
- Design and implement dynamic educational programs specifically aimed at individuals with visual impairments, accommodating various settings including residential and remote programs.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of student achievements, curriculum plans, and program engagement.
- Deliver classroom instruction within the technology center and assist in recruiting program participants.
- Conduct ongoing research into new technologies, applications, and methodologies within the assistive technology realm.
- Participate in professional development training to enhance expertise in computer technologies and assistive devices.
- Foster and nurture collaborative relationships with school districts, internal departments, funding sources, and relevant organizations.
- Provide technology instruction and support to students in both public and private school environments.
- Offer consultative assistance to educators, including assessments, lesson planning, and the preparation of reports.
- Train parents and caregivers to effectively support students in utilizing assistive technology.
- Work closely with internal teams to evaluate and address the assistive technology needs of employees.
- Ensure timely and organized submission of all required documentation.
- Adapt to evolving responsibilities and priorities as necessary.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively teach and train individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong proficiency in computers, with an expansive knowledge of current technologies, including mobile devices and relevant software applications.
- Familiarity with traditional hardware/software installation processes for both PC and Macintosh systems.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google applications (Docs, Sheets).
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and applications.
- Capability to occasionally lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
- An associate’s degree in teaching, vocational training, technology, or education is preferred. Equivalent formal training certifications in software or hardware applications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of one year of experience in teaching, training, or instructional roles is preferred.
