Job Overview

We are in search of a seasoned, enthusiastic, and influential leader to join our organization as the Chief Development Officer (CDO). In this pivotal role, you will spearhead our fundraising initiatives, cultivate donor relationships, and ensure the financial sustainability of our mission-driven organization. Your efforts will play a crucial role in fostering positive, enduring changes in the lives of youth within our community. You will work in close partnership with the CEO, Executive Team, and Board of Directors to guarantee the effectiveness of our programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the fundraising strategy to achieve both annual and capital funding objectives.
  • Formulate and execute a multi-year fundraising plan that is in alignment with the organization's mission and priorities.
  • Provide regular updates to the CEO, Executive Team, and Board regarding fundraising progress, financial performance, and key metrics.
  • Oversee and manage annual giving campaigns, fundraising events, major gifts, corporate and foundation contributions, public grants, and stewardship initiatives.
  • Build and sustain relationships with a diverse array of donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Ensure a balanced revenue stream concentrating on long-term financial security and legacy gifts.
  • Manage grant writing, reporting, and volunteer programs.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Board to recruit, cultivate, and engage board members who are aligned with the organization's mission and fundraising goals.
  • Develop resources and strategies to support efficient board governance and engagement.
  • Direct the functions of the Resource Development Committee and other advisory boards, assisting in the recruitment of advisory board members within key communities.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Marketing to craft and implement a comprehensive marketing plan aimed at enhancing visibility and community engagement.
  • Foster connections with local media outlets and community influencers to heighten awareness of our mission and initiatives.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, advocating for its mission and vision within the community.
  • Identify and engage prospective donors through database analysis and philanthropic research.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team within the development department, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Implement development strategies to surpass fundraising goals and ensure optimal team performance.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management competencies.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with notable experience in crafting persuasive donor materials and delivering impactful presentations.
  • A collaborative and team-focused attitude, with a proven ability to work synergistically with staff, board members, and donors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, donor management software, and digital marketing tools such as Constant Contact, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Ability to analyze donor databases and fundraising metrics to stimulate growth.
  • Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in fundraising, donor development, and nonprofit management, ideally with a mission-driven organization.
  • Established relationships within the community.
  • Proven track record in securing major gifts and managing a comprehensive donor portfolio.
  • Experience in developing and managing annual giving programs, capital campaigns, and corporate partnerships.

    Compensation And Benefits

  • Salary : $100,000 - $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
