Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial operations and reporting, while supervising a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and present detailed financial reports for the CFO, encompassing monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Establish, assess, and maintain the financial accounting policies and procedures manual, while overseeing payroll, cash disbursement, and receipts.
- Conduct regular assessments of internal controls and organizational policies to guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Review and update the chart of accounts, create new accounts as necessary, and maintain an accurate general ledger.
- Coordinate the annual inventory and perform reconciliations with the general ledger.
- Prepare accounting records for various subsidiary entities.
- Oversee the development and review of the indirect cost allocation plan.
- Ensure the timely submission of all required federal and state tax documents for the organization and its subsidiaries.
- Prepare necessary schedules and supporting documentation for the annual financial audit, including drafting financial statements and footnotes.
- Process monthly payments and accurately record transactions in the accounting system.
- Analyze and maintain general ledger accounts, making adjusting entries as required.
- Assist with the implementation of the NetSuite cloud-based accounting system.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cost allocation plans, including any revisions.
- Monitor budget adherence against actual expenditures and track contract cost limits.
- Collaborate with funders and auditors to address findings and inquiries.
- Maintain custody of grant and corporate documentation.
- Work closely with Property Management and Community & Economic Development teams, particularly during transitions.
- Engage with state and local agencies, lenders, investors, and funding partners to facilitate necessary due diligence for financing approvals.
- Oversee program expenditures and approve transactions within the NetSuite system.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in community development, affordable housing, or a related nonprofit sector.
- Proficient knowledge of governmental accounting procedures and practices.
- Strong understanding of community development financial programs, including LIHTC and federal/state tax credit and subsidy programs.
- Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and integrity.
- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit/government accounting standards (GAAS).
- Proficient in computer skills, including experience with Property Management software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
