Job Overview

We are in search of a seasoned and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial operations of our mission-oriented organization. The CFO will be instrumental in driving financial planning, strategy, and ensuring the overall fiscal health of the entity. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors to uphold financial integrity, adhere to regulatory standards, and support sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will possess a robust strategic orientation, exemplary communication skills, and the capability to navigate the organization through financial challenges and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute financial strategies that resonate with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Oversee the creation of financial reporting materials and metrics for stakeholders, including funders, leadership, and the Board of Directors.
  • Direct the development and administration of the annual budget and long-term financial planning.
  • Deliver financial analysis and strategic insights to inform the organization's decision-making processes and business operations.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, accounting standards, and financial regulations, including those mandated by the IRS for non-profit entities.
  • Establish and uphold effective internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Manage financial risks related to insurance policies, investment strategies, and reserve funds.
  • Collaborate with auditors to facilitate timely and efficient audits.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements, reports, and forecasts to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain open communication with the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors regarding financial trends, health, and key performance indicators.
  • Partner with program directors and department leaders to ensure financial alignment with organizational and programmatic objectives.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, encompassing hiring, training, and promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Contribute to strategic organizational planning as a vital member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Support fundraising efforts and ensure financial alignment with donor expectations.
  • Oversee financial elements of grant management, including budgeting, tracking, and reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
