Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned and innovative Chief Operating Officer (COO) to spearhead the daily operations of our organization. As an essential member of the leadership team, the COO will collaborate closely with the CEO and the National Board of Directors to propel the organization’s strategic vision, amplify operational efficiency, and cultivate a robust organizational culture. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance to the executive team regarding decision-making and business management.
  • Promote a culture of transparency by clearly communicating organizational goals and decisions to all levels of staff.
  • Serve as a mentor to team members, fostering their professional growth in areas such as business planning, financial management, and risk assessment.
  • Oversee the organization’s financial performance, ensuring favorable results relative to the budget and optimal resource utilization.
  • Stay up-to-date with nonprofit audit practices, legal regulations, and risk management methodologies.
  • Engage with local communities and operational locations to maintain a positive organizational presence.
  • Support fundraising initiatives and resource development efforts to secure the organization's sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Strong alignment with the organization's mission and cultural values.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Nonprofit Management, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in nonprofit management, with leadership roles in governance and fundraising.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects across multiple teams.
  • Proven ability to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness, focusing on measurable results.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in financial management and budgeting processes.
  • Capable of translating strategic visions into actionable operational frameworks.
  • Ability to make informed decisions independently while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Strong executive presence and experience engaging with senior leadership and board members.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and service-oriented approach to leadership.
  • Knowledge of IRS nonprofit regulations and industry best practices.
  • Expertise in operations management, risk management, and human resources.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
