- Providing client support under attorney supervision to ensure legal needs are effectively addressed.
- Delivering paraprofessional legal services to eligible clients and community organizations in relevant civil matters.
- Engaging in outreach and educational initiatives to enhance community awareness and foster relationships with local groups.
- Assisting attorneys in case management, including client representation, collaboration with community groups, and case development.
- Drafting and filing legal documents, coordinating hearings, and liaising with courts and clients.
- Facilitating effective communication and collaboration through regular meetings with community stakeholders and team members.
- Seeking guidance from supervising attorneys and participating in ongoing professional training.
- Occasionally traveling for administrative tasks or community outreach efforts.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and foundational legal research capabilities.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- An Associate's degree and paralegal certification are preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of previous paralegal experience is advantageous.
- Experience in community organizing or with low-income populations is desirable.
- Fluency in Spanish (both verbal and written) is highly preferred.
