Job Overview

We are looking for an accomplished and forward-thinking Science Director - DNA/Chromatin Biology to spearhead pioneering research in epigenetics and chromatin regulatory biology. This role is essential for comprehensively integrating intricate biological processes such as DNA topology, epigenetic modifications, transcription, mRNA splicing, and genomic architecture. The ideal candidate will possess a robust scientific foundation and extensive experience in managing diverse research portfolios while fostering collaborations with both academic and industrial partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a research portfolio dedicated to DNA topology, epigenetic modifications, chromatin regulation, and their influence on disease mechanisms.
  • Design and execute transcription assays in cellular and in vivo models to evaluate potential therapeutic interventions.
  • Identify and engage with prominent academic and industry collaborators to propel innovative research initiatives.
  • Establish and refine biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays to bolster drug discovery efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, implement, and incorporate assays into therapeutic research programs.
  • Oversee partnerships with contract research organizations and academic institutions to further research objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures for assays and data qualification.
  • Actively participate in scientific meetings, co-author publications, and disseminate research discoveries to the broader scientific community.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in DNA biology, encompassing structure, epigenetic marks, transcription, splicing, and genomic architecture.
  • Strong analytical abilities with experience in managing extensive datasets and complex biological systems.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard quantitative biology tools, technologies, and vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating a proven capacity for collaborative teamwork.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a history of strategic thinking.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Neuroscience, or a related scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in drug discovery within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.
  • Profound knowledge of DNA biology, including mechanistic insights into transcription and splicing.
  • Demonstrated capability in bridging biochemical and structural biology within drug discovery frameworks.
