Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute a holistic strategy that aligns the loan underwriting and Member Solutions teams with the broader organizational objectives, particularly focusing on risk management and financial performance.

- Conduct regular performance assessments, providing coaching and mentorship, while facilitating ongoing training for team members.
- Direct operational activities throughout the loan lifecycle, ensuring adherence to effective underwriting practices, loss mitigation procedures, collections, loan modification, and foreclosure prevention initiatives.
- Analyze performance metrics to pinpoint emerging trends and risks in underwriting and loan decision processes, enabling proactive adjustments to collections and loss mitigation approaches.
- Work alongside team managers to design and implement efficient metrics and service level agreements that align with the company's strategic goals.
- Continuously assess and improve policies and procedures for greater accuracy and efficiency across both underwriting and collections functions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and internal regulations, updating policies and practices as necessary.
- Collaborate with Risk Operations to identify and mitigate risks during audits, compliance reviews, and examinations in underwriting, collections, and loss mitigation.
- Develop outreach initiatives aimed at educating members about available loss mitigation resources and options.
- Address escalated inquiries and concerns from members, focusing on effective resolution and satisfaction.
- Encourage cross-departmental collaboration to align lending initiatives with risk management and compliance efforts.
- Partner with external organizations, including credit reporting and collection agencies, to enhance loss mitigation strategies.
- Act as a primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders concerning lending support and loss mitigation operations.
- Prepare and present performance reports that include key metrics, trends, and recommendations for improvements to senior management and stakeholders.
- Utilize data analytics to fine-tune strategies and guide decision-making.
- In-depth knowledge of lending regulations, compliance mandates, and loan products.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven capability to analyze processes, identify disparities, and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency in risk management, loan origination, and servicing software, with familiarity in automated systems and technologies in lending and loss mitigation being advantageous.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in loss mitigation, collections, lending operations, or risk management, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity within a credit union or financial institution.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Risk Manager, Certified Credit Union Executive) are preferred.
