This role encompasses a range of finance and accounting tasks, such as recording journal entries, monitoring compensation, conducting account reconciliations, supporting monthly closing activities, preparing financial reports, and aiding in the annual audit. Collaboration with various internal divisions will be essential, including Corporate Accounting, FP&A, HR, Tax, Treasury, and Payroll.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct variance analysis at both account and legal entity levels.
- Assist with bank reconciliations when necessary.
- Monitor awards connected to new offer letters, continuing employment letters, and separation agreements.
- Prepare and review journal entries related to cash and non-cash compensation items during the monthly closing process.
- Oversee the firm's incentive compensation process in partnership with the Assistant Controller and Compensation Controller, while communicating compensation details with HR.
- Provide Payroll with information regarding award payments on a semi-monthly basis.
- Reconcile compensation accounts monthly across all legal entities.
- Generate annual phantom award letters for eligible employees.
- Identify and implement enhancements to processes to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and Management Reporting teams as required.
- Assist with corporate auditing responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 4-8 years of experience in corporate financial management or corporate reporting.
- Background in the financial services industry is preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong commitment to accurate and high-quality work.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including expertise in Excel VBA.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Familiarity with OneStream software is a plus.
- Understanding of ledger database structures and organizational hierarchies is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of recent GAAP pronouncements (such as ASC 115, 123R, 141R, 157, 159, 160, and 167).
- Experience with monthly/annual closing processes using general ledger systems is beneficial.
- Coding experience, particularly with Excel VBA, is advantageous.
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 4-8 years of experience in corporate financial management or corporate reporting.
