We are seeking a dedicated Financial Aid Officer to join our esteemed team in Los Angeles, CA. In this pivotal role, you will facilitate students’ access to essential financial resources, empowering them to attain their educational aspirations. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support to students and their families throughout the financial aid process, delivering outstanding customer service.
- Evaluate and award financial aid packages, including Federal Direct Loans, Pell Grants, and California Grant programs.
- Conduct Title IV verifications for selected applicants in a timely manner.
- Monitor and rectify Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) rejects to maintain accurate monthly reconciliations of federal aid programs.
- Keep abreast of federal and state financial aid regulations by actively participating in professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Billing Office to coordinate financial aid postings and ensure prompt fund distribution.
- Inform students about Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and monitor compliance.
- Uphold compliance with all pertinent federal and state financial aid regulations.
- Engage with students to address financial aid inquiries and provide guidance on available funding options.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in financial aid and adherence to federal/state regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of Title IV, CAL Grants, and Student Accounts regulations.
- Familiarity with COD and CSAC WebGrants systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word, as well as database management.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- A collaborative approach with a strong focus on student needs.
- Experience with Colleague software is advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in financial aid and compliance is required.
