Key Responsibilities
- Transform the financial departments of our clients, enabling them to fulfill their missions.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports for management and board presentations.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to accounting practices, operations, internal controls, and compliance measures.
- Support clients in establishing strategic best practices.
- Oversee transactional activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and workpapers.
- Conduct financial analysis and data visualization, along with budgeting and forecasting.
- Manage grant activities, allocations, and reporting to funders.
- Prepare and oversee annual audits.
- Provide training to clients and staff as needed.
- A passion for working with or supporting nonprofit organizations.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with various General Ledger packages, particularly QuickBooks, and electronic bill payment systems.
- Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and maintain responsiveness.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is an advantage.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience is essential.
- Prior experience in a remote working environment is preferred.
- Nonprofit accounting, public accounting, or consulting experience is a valuable asset but not mandatory.
- CPA certification is a plus.
