Position: Accounting & HR Assistant (Remote)

We invite you to become a part of our esteemed nonprofit organization as an Accounting & HR Assistant in a fully remote capacity. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with our Director of Finance & HR, contributing to a range of financial and human resources tasks that are vital to our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable functions, ensuring vendor maintenance and accuracy in processing payments.
  • Administer scholarship payments, verifying that funds are credited appropriately to student accounts and liaising with educational institutions when necessary.
  • Manage accounts receivable duties, including the issuance of invoices, oversight of outstanding payments, and follow-up on collections.
  • Document receivables in the accounting software (Intacct) and ensure efficient processing.
  • Facilitate donor relations by preparing and sending tax acknowledgment letters.
  • Conduct reconciliations for bank accounts and credit card statements to maintain financial integrity.
  • Process expense reports and manage credit card receipts for team members.
  • Supervise in-kind inventory management and coordinate the distribution of donations.
  • Provide general assistance to the Director of Finance & HR and other staff as required.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is essential, preferably in accounting or finance.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with accounting software is highly desirable, specifically Sage Intacct.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in Intacct or similar accounting platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capable of multitasking, prioritizing workloads, and meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Self-directed, reliable, and committed to upholding confidentiality and professionalism.
