We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Device Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver exceptional patient care in an outpatient clinic environment. This pivotal role involves preparing patients for their appointments, ensuring seamless patient flow, assisting healthcare providers with procedures and treatments, administering medications, and managing administrative tasks such as scheduling, referrals, authorizations, and in-basket support utilizing our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person assessments and programming of implanted cardiac devices using equipment from leading device manufacturers (e.g., Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific, Biotronik).
- Identify device or lead issues and promptly inform the cardiologist for necessary interventions.
- Provide comprehensive education to patients and their families concerning post-implant care, device operations, remote monitoring, and follow-up appointments.
- Maintain accurate documentation for CIED evaluations, arrhythmia monitoring, and anticoagulation management, including appropriate billing entries with CPT codes.
- Monitor remote transmissions from CIEDs, addressing alerts and regular data submissions as required.
- Stay updated on device advisories and recall notifications, adhering to manufacturer protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure timely and efficient care for patients with CIEDs.
- Offer coverage within the CIED department for satellite facilities when necessary.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource on device and arrhythmia management, guiding CIED technicians, nurses, advanced practice clinicians (APCs), cardiologists, and primary care providers.
- Engage in ongoing educational opportunities related to CIED management and cardiovascular health.
- 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in critical care, interventional cardiology, or a cardiac step-down unit, with a strong emphasis on cardiology.
- Valid BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Preferred experience in CIED management, alongside completion of a recognized professional CIED program.
- Desirable: International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) certification.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) is mandatory; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is highly preferred.
- Current RN licensure in New Mexico (RN-NM) is required.
