The successful candidate will play a crucial role in monitoring and modifying oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, executing diagnostic procedures, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes in alignment with physician directives and established protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer both routine and advanced therapeutic respiratory procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- Continuously monitor and adjust oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation as required.
- Conduct and interpret Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) tests and electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Provide intermittent respiratory therapy and assist with changes to artificial airways.
- Document and review all clinical data pertaining to each patient comprehensively.
- Educate patients and team members on respiratory care practices and treatment methodologies.
- Deliver care that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients.
- Maintain professional certifications and keep abreast of technical advancements.
- Participate in staff meetings and engage in ongoing training opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and standards of care.
- Follow all safety, privacy, and compliance policies to safeguard patient information and uphold ethical standards.
- Expertise in computer applications relevant to patient data entry and retrieval.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Required: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (mandatory for therapists working in the NICU).
