Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Job Overview

As a Purchasing Manager, you will take on a pivotal leadership role in our dynamic Purchasing department. Your expertise will drive the development and execution of strategic procurement initiatives while fostering strong supplier relationships crucial for our operations in the aerospace and defense sectors. You will oversee a dedicated team of Purchasing Coordinators, ensuring the alignment of procurement strategies with our overarching business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Purchasing Coordinator team, including recruitment, training, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
  • Formulate and execute purchasing strategies and policies that meet our objectives, emphasizing cost efficiency, quality enhancement, and supply chain optimization.
  • Supervise the procurement of materials, components, and services, particularly for aerospace and defense applications.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to secure optimal value for our organization and clients.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to synchronize purchasing strategies with long-term corporate goals and market dynamics.
  • Create and enforce effective policies, procedures, and best practices for the Purchasing department, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Manage departmental budgets and monitor procurement-related expenditures.
  • Spearhead strategic sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, evaluation, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, MIL-STD, export control regulations, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to align purchasing decisions with technical specifications and business needs.
  • Develop and assess key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Purchasing department and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Lead initiatives addressing supply chain risks related to market fluctuations and geopolitical factors.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance effectiveness, reduce costs, and elevate supplier performance.
  • Manage inventory levels to balance cost control with operational needs.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and significant supplier meetings.
  • Mentor team members, cultivating a culture of excellence and professional growth.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, market trends, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years in purchasing or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity, preferably in aerospace and defense.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related discipline; professional certifications are advantageous.
  • Profound knowledge of procurement strategies, supplier relationship management, and industry standards.
  • Exceptional leadership and team development abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to make data-driven decisions.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills, able to engage stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain analytics tools.
