Job Overview

We are in search of a meticulous and skilled Medical Biller/Coder to enhance our team, contributing to a patient-centered approach in a thriving healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Interact with patients to review charges, collect balances, and schedule future appointments.
• Accurately enter charges related to over-the-counter supplies and post payments from insurance and patients in our practice management system.
• Conduct end-of-day financial reconciliation to maintain precision in financial records.
• Address billing and coding inquiries from patients, staff, and insurance companies.
• Prepare patient charts in anticipation of upcoming appointments.
• Verify insurance benefits and secure necessary referrals and authorizations as required.
• Manage medical records, including the distribution of records and the uploading of patient information to electronic charts.
• Uphold patient confidentiality while strictly adhering to HIPAA regulations.
• Execute additional related duties as assigned.
  
  

Required Skills

• High School Diploma.
• 2-3 years of billing experience, preferably in the field of ophthalmology.
• CPC or CPB certification is mandatory.
• Proficiency in medical insurance protocols and patient management systems (knowledge of AdvancedMD is advantageous).
• Familiarity with basic medical coding and third-party payer processes.
• Competency in using email, Microsoft Office, and various online applications.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional organizational abilities and a keen attention to detail.
• Capability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
  
  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Certification in medical coding or billing (CPC or CPB).
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in ophthalmology.
