Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary pediatric medical authority, offering supervision, oversight, and consultation for pediatric medical services at CBP locations, including border patrol stations and ports of entry.
- Cultivate a compassionate and supportive atmosphere while engaging with patients, families, and team members.
- Provide expert medical direction to advanced practice providers, ensuring high-quality care delivery, including mental health support when necessary.
- Maintain on-call pediatric coverage for assigned medical units, ensuring 24⁄7 availability.
- Coordinate all aspects of pediatric healthcare delivery at assigned facilities, including direct patient care as required.
- Conduct age-appropriate screenings, treatments, and educational sessions for both acute and chronic pediatric health issues.
- Review and manage referrals to specialty services, ensuring quality follow-up and adherence to management protocols.
- Respond to medical emergencies and sentinel events, collaborating closely with medical leadership.
- Participate in local and national medical quality management committees, focusing on initiatives to enhance pediatric care.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records and ensure compliance with privacy standards and organizational policies.
- Engage in continuous training and professional development to sustain licensure and refine clinical skills.
Education/Training:
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited institution required.
- Board certification in Pediatrics from an approved board is mandatory.
- Must possess a current, valid, and unencumbered medical license in the United States.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited organization, with timely renewal prior to expiration.
- Completion of residency training in an accredited program.
- At least 5 years of experience as an attending or independently practicing physician in pediatric care.
- In-depth knowledge of pediatric clinical practices and standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and relevant software applications.
- Comprehensive understanding of healthcare delivery systems and the specific needs of pediatric populations.
- Ability to adapt to evolving environments while maintaining a positive rapport with patients and their families.
