Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic clinical leadership to the interdisciplinary Medical Management team, ensuring effective oversight, guidance, and training.
- Oversee the quality of utilization review determinations and manage appeals.
- Conduct medical necessity and peer-to-peer reviews to maintain high standards of care.
- Monitor various clinical programs, including case and disease management, to meet clinical objectives.
- Engage in collaborative case rounds and develop comprehensive case management plans.
- Analyze clinical program effectiveness and cost-efficiency through data evaluation.
- Foster relationships with external stakeholders, including health plan partners and state agencies.
- Guide Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
- Participate actively in network credentialing and quality improvement committees.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate medical staff and physician advisors.
- Develop and manage the medical director’s budget and implement the Medical Action Plan (MAP) to enhance cost-efficiency.
- Establish and enforce national and local medical policies and procedures.
- Assess technology and clinical practice standards, ensuring the quality of clinical reviews and care plans.
- Collaborate with the network management team for integrated clinical approaches.
- Provide after-hours coverage as necessary and participate in RFP response development.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an ACGME-approved residency program in the U.S. or Canada.
- At least 7 years of post-residency experience with substantial direct patient care.
- Clinical expertise relevant to the patient population.
- Unrestricted medical license in New Mexico.
- Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record in driving change.
- Experience in cost-benefit analysis, medical decision-making, credentialing, quality assurance, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or equivalent international degree with necessary U.S. training.
- Specialized knowledge in Psychiatry, Psychiatric sub-specialty, Primary Care, Geriatrics, Palliative Care, or Physical Medicine.
