Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Product Testing Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and mentoring test engineering personnel in all phases of testing activities.
- Coordinating departmental schedules and resources in alignment with product development timelines.
- Establishing and upholding a continuous improvement process for the testing laboratory to meet evolving needs.
- Developing and managing technical documentation and testing protocols.
- Designing and executing mechanical, electrical, environmental, and performance testing programs utilizing advanced equipment.
- Overseeing data collection and report generation to support product validation efforts.
- Creating and procuring custom testing fixtures and apparatus.
- Conducting risk assessments concerning reliability and certification throughout the product lifecycle.
- Investigating and resolving field issues through innovative testing methodologies.
- Evaluating product performance under extreme thermal cycling and fatigue scenarios.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, manufacturing, quality assurance, product management, and marketing.
- Conducting fieldwork as needed, including the installation and testing of PV modules, arrays, and electrical systems.
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field.
- A minimum of 5 years of product testing experience in solar or related sectors.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to encourage collaboration within a dynamic team.
- Exceptional project management competencies.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as UL, ASTM, IEC, NEC, IBC, and ASCE.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
- Practical experience in construction and fabrication.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Knowledge of statistical methods, design of experiments, and failure mode testing (e.g., FMEA, HALE/HALT).
- Expertise in test equipment programming, automation, and data acquisition.
- Familiarity with roofing system design, waterproofing, and reliability testing.
- Experience with wind tunnel testing.
- A deep understanding of solar racking solutions, electrical grounding/bonding, and load-path system design.
