This role is designed for an accomplished marketing professional eager to thrive in a fast-paced setting, driving creative strategies that yield measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement engaging marketing and publicity campaigns for approximately 40-50 titles annually, focusing on cookbooks across various imprints.
- Develop and present compelling lead title pitches to targeted media outlets, fostering relationships with essential media contacts to secure extensive coverage across print, online, and broadcast platforms.
- Draft press releases and assemble media kits, while curating comprehensive media lists to enhance public relations efforts for our expanding portfolio of titles.
- Communicate media coverage enthusiastically to authors, agents, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and excitement.
- Oversee the planning, pitching, and logistics of author tours as part of specific publicity initiatives.
- Cultivate strong relationships with authors, agents, and internal teams to generate enthusiasm for new releases.
- Design and manage social media strategies for assigned titles to maximize reach and engagement.
- Produce A content and supplementary marketing materials for designated titles.
- Collaborate with the marketing department on overarching campaigns and influencer partnerships.
- Stay informed on the latest trends and shifts in social media and digital platforms, providing insights to shape our strategic direction.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 4-5 years of experience in marketing, publicity, and social media strategy within the publishing industry.
- High level of creativity with the ability to devise innovative marketing approaches, particularly in social media.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders including publishing teams, sales departments, and authors.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, enabling effective time management and multitasking.
- Experience in author engagement and communication.
- Comprehensive knowledge of media relations and public relations within the book publishing sector.
- Flexibility to adapt and learn as the role and organization evolve.
- Willingness to travel for trade shows, conventions, and author events as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Cision, Edelweiss, and Box/Dropbox is preferred.
- Connections and experience with independent bookstores are advantageous.
