Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership to the interdisciplinary Medical Management team through oversight, consultation, and training.
- Ensure high-quality utilization review determinations, including appeals.
- Conduct medical necessity and peer-to-peer reviews.
- Oversee case management and disease management programs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of clinical programs via data analysis.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including health plan partners, state agencies, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor medical staff and physician advisors.
- Develop and manage budgets and implement medical policies and procedures.
- Provide after-hours coverage as needed and participate in RFP response development.
- Strong leadership abilities with a proven capacity to drive change.
- Experience with cost-benefit and medical decision analysis.
- Proficiency in credentialing, quality assurance, and continuous quality improvement processes.
- Relevant clinical experience with the patient populations being managed.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree or equivalent international degree.
- Completion of a US-based internship and residency (and fellowship for subspecialists).
- Minimum of 7 years of post-residency experience with substantial direct patient care.
- Unrestricted medical license in New Mexico.
- Board certification from ABMS or a Specialty Board.
