Key Responsibilities
Technical Work
- Develop high-quality technical studies and environmental documents such as Biological Resource Assessments, biological CEQA/NEPA analyses, Jurisdictional Delineations, and permit application packages.
- Determine optimal permitting pathways for complex projects while formulating the requisite technical studies and materials for application submissions.
- Conduct stream/wetland delineations and other essential fieldwork for biological documentation.
- Occasional travel with overnight stays may be necessary.
- Direct complex biological permitting projects, including those related to the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and Coastal Act.
- Independently manage and complete medium to large-scale projects, ensuring prompt and effective delivery.
- Oversee project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Serve as the primary liaison for clients and regulatory agencies, ensuring effective communication and seamless project management.
- Provide technical guidance to both staff and subcontractors.
- Lead quality assurance and control (QA/QC) reviews of technical reports, budgets, and schedules.
- Engage in client outreach to build robust relationships and secure new business opportunities.
- Prepare proposals and develop cost and schedule estimates for prospective projects.
- Participate in client interviews and deliver presentations to secure project work.
This position is ideal for you if you possess:
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive and successful environmental consulting experience encompassing technical work, project management, and business development.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology (or equivalent) from an accredited institution, or a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.
- A proven ability to supervise staff, provide innovative solutions, and cultivate positive relationships with team members, clients, regulatory bodies, and subconsultants.
- Expertise in Biological resource assessments (CEQA/NEPA)
- Proficiency in botanical and wildlife species surveys
- Experience with wetland delineations and jurisdictional determinations
- Knowledge of CRAM assessments
- Understanding of regulatory permitting and compliance oversight
- Skills in restoration planning, habitat management, and mitigation monitoring
- Experience with utility, energy, water, or transportation projects is a distinct advantage.
