As an Application Database Administrator, your core responsibilities will encompass:
- Database Management: Leverage your expertise with diverse database systems, including DB2, Oracle, ADABAS, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, PostgreSQL, and VSAM to maintain the database environments effectively.
- Database Architecture & Support: Provide advanced database architectural assistance, covering Data Modeling, Attribution, Referential Integrity, and Database Security to guarantee seamless operations and data accuracy.
- Database Optimization: Analyze the existing database environment and make judicious recommendations for enhancements based on thorough monitoring and assessment.
- Design & Implementation: Spearhead the physical database design, ensuring compliance with all requisite specifications concerning file attributes, backup/recovery protocols, security measures, and storage needs.
- Software Recommendations: Assess and suggest pertinent software solutions that can augment database management and performance.
- DBMS Installation & Testing: Oversee the installation and testing processes of Database Management Systems (DBMS) software to ensure effective deployment and functionality.
- Database Object Management: Develop and administer database objects, including schemas, views, tables, stored procedures, triggers, partitioning, clustering, and indexing strategies to uphold the database architecture.
- Audit & Integrity: Safeguard data integrity through comprehensive audits of the database, addressing missing data, identifying late transactions, and ensuring prompt error detection and resolution.
- Database Conversion: Supervise and execute database conversions, guaranteeing seamless transitions between database structures and formats.
Candidates should possess the following skills:
- Established experience with multiple database systems (DB2, Oracle, ADABAS, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, PostgreSQL, VSAM).
