We are seeking a passionate Community Engineer to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. This role is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about open-source software, Linux, and nurturing vibrant, sustainable communities. As a Community Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving community initiatives, ensuring contributors are supported and empowered in a collaborative atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with a distributed team to encourage community engagement and growth.
• Craft high-quality content to promote community initiatives, keeping members informed about events and collaborative projects.
• Provide technical assistance and ensure developers have access to the necessary tools and resources for success.
• Act as a bridge between the community and internal teams, representing community interests while enhancing collaboration.
• Engage with community members across various platforms, including forums, social media, and professional events.
• Attend and speak at conferences and expos to represent the community and share insights on technical projects.
• Travel globally for 2-4 weeks per year, with additional travel opportunities available.
• Cultivate a welcoming environment for contributions and support the sustainable growth of open-source initiatives.

• Deep passion for technology and open-source projects, coupled with a desire to collaborate with like-minded individuals.
• Strong curiosity, adaptability, and accountability, thriving in fast-paced environments and embracing new technologies.
• Exceptional communication skills, supported by a public portfolio of accomplishments (e.g., blog posts, GitHub contributions, speaking engagements).
• Proven experience with open-source projects and developer tools, especially in Linux (both kernel and userspace).
• Familiarity with two or more of the following areas: DevOps, software development, testing and QA, package management, and container technology.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of objectives, and manage time effectively.
• Experience in engaging with open-source communities and understanding volunteer-driven project dynamics.
